A Brief History:
Origination Strawberry: Strawberries are a newer hybrid developed in the 18^th century by crossing Fragaria virginiana from North America and Fragaria chiloensis from Chile. This created a larger, flavorful fruit. Indigenous peoples used wild strawberries before they were introduced to Europe. The term “strawberry” comes from Old English, meaning “strewn berry. ”

California Strawberry Origins: California strawberries are mainly grown along the central coast, especially in the Watsonville/Salinas and Oxnard regions, which supply a large portion of the US market. The main growing regions include: Watsonville/Salinas: A key area in Santa Cruz/Monterey counties. Oxnard: A significant production zone in Ventura County. Santa Maria: Also contributes to the strawberry supply in Santa Barbara County. Strawberries are available year-round, with winter harvests in Southern California and production shifting north as the weather warms.

The Succulent Aroma & Great Flavor of the Strawberry: Strawberries embody the essence of paradise, adorned with a touch of sunshine and playfulness. Their vibrant red, dimpled appearance evokes images of picnics featuring generous servings of strawberries.
