A Brief History:
Origination: National Cream-Filled Chocolate Day celebrates the origin of cream-filled chocolate. The origins of cream-filled chocolates date back to the 17^th century and 1912. In the 17^th century, Marshal du Plessis-Praslin described pralines, which were nuts in caramelized sugar. In 1912, Jean Neuhaus II created the first cream-filled chocolates with various fillings. Other filled chocolates include chocolate truffles from the late 19th century and the filled chocolate bar invented by Forrest Mars in 1925. Examples also include truffles, bonbons and pralines.

More Recent Evolution: Cream-filled chocolates can feature an array of fillings such as buttercream, mint, orange, raspberry, and strawberry. Certain brands provide vegan and organic alternatives. Elite chocolate artisans present a divergent selection of cream-filled delights as well. You may choose from options like marshmallow cream, chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, coconut, hazelnut cream, and even crème de menthe. Additionally, coffee cream-filled chocolates are available. Virtually any fruit can be transformed into a creamy center.
