A Brief History:
Origination: H.P. Hood introduced the first frozen yogurt in the United States in 1970, branding it as a soft-serve dessert known as Frogurt. Shortly thereafter, both Humphreys and Dannon launched their own variations of frozen yogurt. The product gained significant popularity during the 1980s, largely attributed to its perception as a “health food.” In response, ice cream producers began to offer low-fat alternatives.

A Comeback? Frozen yogurt is experiencing a resurgence as consumers increasingly favor its tangy flavor profile. It has become a popular choice not only for home freezers but also as a delightful treat following work or recreational activities.

Flavorful: The sales of frozen yogurt are experiencing annual growth as consumers seek a healthier substitute for traditional ice cream. The wide variety of flavors and topping options further enhances the appeal of frozen yogurt. People continue to enhance frozen yogurt by adding all sorts of toppings like sprinkles, whipped cream, and gummy bears.

Lower Calories: A 8-ounce serving of frozen vanilla yogurt typically has around 235 calories.
