A Brief History:
Origination: Blueberry pancakes gained popularity in the United States during the late 19^th and early 20^th century. While the incorporation of blueberries into pancakes is a relatively modern innovation, the origins of pancakes can be traced back to ancient Greece. The first pancakes were introduced in the ancient date of 600 B.C. in Greece.

More Recent Origin:  More dates that were an important start to pancakes:

• 1889: The first ready-mix food sold on the commercial market was Aunt Jemima pancake flour. It was invented by the Pearl Milling Company in St. Joseph, Missouri and advertised as the first ready-mix cooking product.
• Late 19^th and early 20^th century: Several different people in the same time period start adding blueberries to the tops and in the pancake batter. Blueberry syrup, a great staple at IHOP, was introduced closely thereafter.
• 1931: Bisquick is first introduced in the United States to make lighter, fluffier versions of pancakes than previous batters.
• 1961: Mrs. Butterworth was named the iconic godmother of American syrup.

What Really are Blueberry Pancakes? Blueberry are added to the top and possibly the inside of the batter. The invention and/or discovery of this is much newer than the pancake alone (late 19^th and early 20^th century). Pancakes are the very old beginnings of bread and pastry. Generally a pancake is any kind of batter, fried or baked in a skillet, on a griddle, or on any hot surface.

Celebrated: The holiday is a celebrated on January 28^th every year!
