📚 Some History:
In 1840, Roget concluded a distinguished career in medicine and dedicated the remainder of his life to the development of Roget’s Thesaurus of English Words and Phrases. This endeavor stemmed from years of compiling and classifying words, akin to a scientist gathering specimens. In Roget’s instance, his focus was on the collection of words. He released the first edition of his thesaurus in 1852. This work transcended a mere compilation of synonyms; it represented a thorough categorization and systematic arrangement of words based on their meanings.
