Which Colony State is NY:
The Beginning Years: It is believed that the initial history of New York State dates back to ancient times, with the first people arriving over 5,000 years ago in the Devonian Period. The Lenape people were the first native inhabitants, followed by the Haudenosaunee Native Americans. European exploration began in 1524 by Italian Giovanni da Verrazzano, leading to Dutch colonization on Manhattan Island in 1624, creating New Amsterdam. Native American cultures, European discovery, and Dutch colonization are key aspects of New York State’s history.
