Which Colony State is SC:
The Beginning Years: It is believed that the initial settlers of what is now South Carolina are believed to have arrived over 5,000 years ago, who were ancestors of Asian migrants who entered North America from Siberia, also known as Paleoindians. These individuals pursued the slow migration of large game species across a land bridge that linked Asia to North America. and had a lifestyle that was primarily characterized by hunting and gathering; however, they began to cultivate agriculture around 1000 BC. In 1521, Spanish explorers originating from Santo Domingo arrived in South Carolina, and in 1526, Lucas Vásquez de Ayllón founded a Spanish colony there. Unfortunately, the colony was short-lived and collapsed within a few months.

During winter, temperatures usually drop to the mid-30s, while summer temperatures range from the upper 60°F’s to mid-70°F’s. The Appalachian Mountains to the north and west help keep the winters milder by blocking some cold air, but they are not tall enough to stop all cold air, so very cold weather can still happen. There are some areas in the Blue Ridge Mountains with an oceanic climate. South Carolina gets about 40 to 80 inches of rain each year, but some parts of the Appalachian temperate rainforest can get over 100 inches. The state also faces droughts at times. There are 216 sunny days average total per year, and approximately 59% of days are sunny.
