A Brief History:
Origination: Chili dog’s consist of two main ingredients. The origination of the hot dog can be traced back to as early as 700 BC. Hot dogs are obviously not originally from within the United States. It originated in Europe, or more concrete in either Frankfurt, Germany (Frankfurter),officially Frankfurt am Main claiming invention in 1487; or Vienna, Austria (Vienna sausage). The U.S. invention started with a version in 1867 on Coney Island, New York, when Charles Feltman, a German immigrant and baker by trade, invented a first chili dog as a convenient way for beachgoers to enjoy frankfurter sausages on a long sliced bun without the hassle of plates or silverware. Then add the chili. . .American frontier settlers used dry chili recipes with mixes of dried beef, suet, dried chili peppers, and salt that was compacted to a dry brick form to be boiled in pots while on the trails. In 1893 at the Columbian Exposition in Chicago, the San Antonio Chili Stand presented the taste of chili to all of the U.S. to see, spreading the word of how a Texas-style chili served up con carne set so deliciously throughout the South to West. Before World War II, hundreds of small, family-run chili parlors or chili joint sopened primarily in the state of Texas, but also in other places throughout the United States. In 1977, the Texas Legislature designated “Chili con carne” as the official dish of the state of Texas. Adding them together: we have the great chili dog!

The Chili Dog: Some chili dogs are made of only three ingredients: beef trimmings, salt, and seasonings combined with chili. Many hot dogs can also contain fillers, preservatives, and other artificial additives. Then add some great chili! Along with considering what chili dogs are made of, you should also consider the quality of the ingredients. They are known to be an original recipe, beef, chicken turkey, and more. . .

Chili Dogs Go Well With : French fries, chicken nuggets, a blooming onion, cheese dip, tater tots, mozzarella sticks, and the limits are endless. . .

A celebration: Recognized each year across the country, a whole day that encourages chili dog lovers to indulge and enjoy.
