Please elaborate on life in a world where people are not dying, and the relationship between Thanatos and Lira. Feel free to embellish on the life and the love.
It’s a world without death and in that fact is pure chaos. Humans find themselves facing immortality… a burden that undoes the delicate balance of life and death.
From this burden is two camps of people: those who embrace being invincible and act out in horrific and dangerous ways, or those who are terrified and hide away.
New gangs form in the streets, anarchy is commonplace, and law enforcement is being dragged down by not having enough officers to control the populace. Half of their own losing themselves to their own hedonism at the lack of accountability death holds over human nature.
Violence increases on a scale never before seen in Halcyon, but without the potential arrest for the crime of murder, the culprits grow more reckless. People looking for any type of escape would find none, only pain at the end of the road they chose to travel.
The goddesses of the realm look on without the ability to change anything, having no idea how or why such a thing would or even could happen. (Good luck getting a straight answer from the Moirai/Fates.)
Now that people are no longer dying, there is no balance between the mortal world and the Underworld.
Thanatos, as a reaper of the Underworld, has been missing from his duties for fifty years, so all hope of coming home to a calm Underworld evaporates when someone decides to play god.
Lira has her own secrets connected to death, secrets that allow her to see Thanatos in his true form, and for her to grow a connection through death to him.
Something that both fascinates and befuddles them both.
However, as much as they want to find out where their connection could lead and if the feelings building up inside them could be love, the world is falling apart.
Not only the mortal world, but the Underworld as well.
The Underworld is weakening to the point of collapse without new souls coming in and old ones going out for their next life.
Thanatos is no longer able to guide souls as both the Underworld and mortal world become so unbalanced that the ultimate power that is Chaos itself must intervene.
Something no one, mortal or immortal alike, wants to see happen.

Synopsis:

She loves death.
He is Death.
Thanatos took a fifty-year vacation from his duties as Death, psychopomp of the Underworld.
Returning to Halcyon, he meets Lira, a professor of Thanatology with the ability to see souls . . and
him.
Intrigued, he finds himself obsessed with learning about the woman who studies, and sees, death.
As he finds himself growing closer to the woman who has him fascinated for the first time in centuries, a
devastating problem arises in both the mortal world and the Underworld.
People are no longer dying.
Thanatos and Lira now have a choice to make: each other or death itself.

Author Bio:
C.D. Britt began her writing journey when her husband told her she needed to use her excessive imagination to write stories as opposed to creating a daily narrative for him. Ever since she penned her first words, life has been a lot more peaceful for him.
She currently resides in Texas where she has yet to adapt to the heat. Her husband thrives in it, so unfortunately, they will not be relocating to colder climates anytime soon.
Their two young children would honestly complain either way.
When she is not in her writing cave (hiding from the sun), she enjoys ignoring the world as much as her children will allow with a good book, music, and vast amounts of coffee (until it’s time for wine).
C.D. Britt is the author of Shadows & Vines, Sirens & Leviathans, and the upcoming book, Storms & Embers.
All three books are part of the Reign of Goddesses series.
