Today’s Featured Flower Photo of the Day:
Sand Coreopsis

Here is today’s featured photo flower presentation. To let the is year shine bright, I am featuring fine photos of flowers, continuing to honor the brighter side of life again this year. Today’s Flower of the day is the The Sand Coreopsis.

The Sand Coreopsis, or the Coreopsis Lanceolatas, part of the Aster (Asteraceae) family, is a perennial plant has 1-1/2 to 3 foot tall fertile stems and tufted basal leaves on sterile shoots. The basal leaves are whole (toothless) along their margins, erect, ascending, or widely spreading. The Sand Coreopsis measure 3 to 6 inches in length and 1/2 to 1 inch wide. The Sand Coreopsis have an elliptic or elliptic-oblanceolate form. Basal leaf petioles are 1 to 4 inches long and slender. Basal leaves have light-medium green upper and lower surfaces that are sporadically covered with white hairs. From the base of each plant, fertile shoots emerge one or more stems that ascend to become upright, while their bases may occasionally rest on the ground. The Sand Coreopsis have stems are terete, light-medium green, and occasionally covered in white hairs. Several different kinds of insects, such as wasps, flies, butterflies, skippers, day-flying moths, and beetles, are drawn to the flowers’ nectar and pollen. The Sand Coreopsis prefer full Sun and will not bloom as much in partial shade, but can withstand some–butt can become lanky and more prone to illness in the shade.

This is the final descriptive post of the year. There will be four more posts with #FallColor for the year. There is going to be Christmas flowers again this year coming starting early December. wp-17008612790083685913903235757231.jpg
