Today’s Featured Flower Photo of the Day: White Cherry Blossom Tree

Here is today’s featured photo flower presentation. To let this year shine bright, I am featuring fine photos of flowers, continuing to honor the brighter side of life again this year. Today’s Flower of the day is the White Cherry Blossom (Tree).

The White Cherry Blossom Tree (Sakura), or the Prunus Serrulata (Somei Yoshino – Cerasus × Yedoensis [white variety]) is a fruit bearing tree that blooms in mid-April in my area of Chicago, Illinois, earlier areas south, later to our north. The tree originates in Himalaya, and grows to the size of 35 feet tall. The tree bears fruit any time in later May to the south of Chicago, to later June north of here. Cherry continues for a four to six week period, barely every making it into August. The Cherry Tree requires about eight hours or more of sunlight daily, so they cannot be planted in the shadow of another tree, so shade is not of any value the Cherry Tree.
