Featured Photo: Architecture, Part 4 – The Skies of Chicago, Illinois – Near North Side & Navy Pier

Here is today’s featured photo presentation of Near North Side & Lake Michigan. To let . To let the year REALLY shine, I am featuring fine photos of great architecture, so we can continue to honor the brighter side of life this year. Part 4 features the beauty of skies of Chicago, Illinois in an aerial view, which also includes an absolutely stunning shot as photographed through the Observatory in the then John Hancock Center, viewed due east into the rooftops of the buildings of the Near North Side’s southernmost area, just north of Streeterville. As you get near the great Lake Michigan and its glory of fresh water and its boater’s paradise, you can see the world famous 3,300-foot-long Navy Pier, the place familiar with summer festivals and its world famous Ferris wheel, from this bird’s eye view. Navy Pier has a history before public entertainment, opening on July 15, 1916. The pier served as a dock for freights, passenger traffic, and indoor and outdoor recreation; events like expositions and pageants were held there. This makes the great city of Chicago it’s very own, and a great place to go up into an observatory and view the great city, on a vacation or just to visit because of the great view from above! Date – July 1981.
Photo taken with a Nikon EM-through a Nikon 26 mm lens, filter=Polarizer, Aperture=16 f/stop, shutter-speed 1/60th second, loaded with Ilford FP-4 Black & White 135 Negative Film ISO (ASA) 125 (fine grain) processed with D-76 Processing Chemicals, and a fiber paper print using the Kodak Professional “warm-tone” enlargement paper developed with Kodak Dektol chemicals onto a 3½x5″ matte-gloss print. Date – July 1981.
