A Brief History:
Origination: World Telecommunication and Information Society Day was implemented as a day to honor the every method of telecommunication, whether it is by internet, social media, Messenger/Direct Message, even gaming. . .You name the method of communication!
Internet: Sir Tim Berners-Lee invented the style we know as the World Wide Web, but it wasn’t until 1998 until hyper text transfer protocol (http://../../../…) was widely used, which is the current standard of communication for the internet worldwide. The process literally transfers the information via a “text” which isn’t just letters, but hyper-glyphic symbols whereby the information is encoded and sent vis wire. The transfer of that information is not widely recognized even by some of the best web programmers, and is differing as compared to the language used by web programmers known as hyper text markup language (filename.html).

Why The Day? The founding of the International Telecommunication Union happened on May 17, 1865. Therefore, World Telecommunication and Information Society Day is celebrated each year to promote and honor the information and communication technologies (ICT) by bringing it all to societies and economies.
