Facts:
History: National Puzzle Day highlights the numerous advantages of engaging our minds through puzzles. Research indicates that solving a jigsaw puzzle activates both hemispheres of the brain. Furthermore, dedicating time each day to puzzles enhances memory, cognitive performance, and problem-solving capabilities.

Logical Health: Word searches and crossword puzzles clearly enhance vocabulary and language proficiency. Similarly, Sudoku, which involves arranging a series of numbers within a grid, also serves to engage the mind. This particular puzzle challenges memory and logical reasoning, thereby stimulating cognitive function and potentially enhancing numerical abilities.
Puzzles and Creativity: Creativity plays a vital role in a child’s development, influencing their emotional, mental, and cognitive health. Studies indicate that when parents and educators promote creative expression through playing or solving a puzzle, they assist children in developing critical thinking abilities and enhancing resilience. Puzzle Day serves as an important occasion to honor the significance of creativity within educational settings, households, and community organizations such as libraries and after-school programs globally.

Puzzles’ Variety of Activities:
The First Crossword Puzzle Ever Created: Arthur Wynne, a journalist hailing from Liverpool, is recognized as the originator of the word game that we currently know. He is credited with creating the first known published crossword puzzle, which was featured in the December 21, 1913, issue of the New York World newspaper.
The First Sudoku Puzzle Ever Created: In the 18th century, a Swiss mathematician devised a game known as Latin Squares. These puzzles made their debut in French newspapers in 1895. However, the contemporary version of Sudoku is a more recent innovation. Howard Garns, a freelance puzzle creator from Connersville, Indiana, developed the game we now enjoy, originally naming it Number Place. This game was first published in the magazine “Dell Pencil Puzzles and Word Games” in 1979.
The First Jigsaw Puzzle Ever Created: The jigsaw puzzle was invented by John Spilsbury, a British cartographer and engraver, who affixed a world map to a wooden board and meticulously cut out each individual country.
