Red Hybrid Daylily
Here is today’s featured photo flower presentation. To let 2025 shine bright, I am featuring fine photos of flowers, continuing to honor the brighter side of life again this year. Today’s Flower of the day is the Red Hybrid Daylily.
The Red Hybrid Daylily, or the Hemerocallis hybrida encompasses all hybrids of daylilies, which include a wide array of cultivars exhibiting various colors, such as red. Notable examples of red daylily cultivars are ‘Red Volunteer’, ‘Red Hot Returns’, ‘Passion for Red’, and ‘Autumn Red’. Red hybrid daylilies are renowned for their vibrant, enduring blooms in red hues, frequently showcasing yellow or green throats. These perennials are easy to cultivate and thrive in diverse conditions, including full sunlight, various soil types, and urban environments with pollution. Their key characteristics include striking red flowers, with shades ranging from candy-apple red to orange-red or pinkish-red. Many cultivars produce large blossoms, measuring 6 to 7 inches in diameter. These plants often rebloom from spring through fall, and some emit a delightful fragrance. Their strap-like foliage creates an attractive mound surrounding the flowers. Daylilies are resilient, capable of withstanding drought, heat, and poor soil, while also attracting pollinators such as bees and butterflies. With minimal maintenance, they can endure for many years, with certain varieties living for decades…
