Origin of Peanut Brittle: Peanut brittle’s origin narrative of peanut brittle suggests that it originated in the Southern United States. The history of peanut brittle remains slightly uncertain, though one legend says it was all a mistake. The story goes that a southern woman in the latter part of the 19th century inadvertently created peanut brittle by mistakenly using baking soda in place of cream of tartar while preparing her taffy.

The Process of Manufacture: Peanut Brittle is made by caramelizing sugar or corn syrup, to which nuts are incorporated. The mixture is then poured onto a flat surface, such as granite or marble, and spread into a thin layer. It is heated to a temperature of 300°F, which is referred to as the hard crack stage. This process results in a candy that is firm and possesses a characteristic snap. Once the sugar cools to a pliable temperature, stretching it contributes to the creation of a fine, brittle texture in the final product.
