Today is Freedom Day for 2024! This is the day that represents the first full day of freedom after President Abraham Lincoln signed the 13th Amendment, abolishing slavery on January 31, 1865. . .

A Brief History:
History: The day that slavery officially ended in the United States. February 1, 1865 was the first full day of freedom after the signing by President Abraham Lincoln of the 13th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.
Premise: February 1st holds great significance in that Abraham Lincoln had just signed the 13th Amendment outlawing slavery in the year 1865. Then on June 30, 1948, President Harry Truman signed a bill proclaiming February 1st as its first official National Freedom Day throughout the United States in celebration of that first full day of freedom for all.
When: Thereafter February 1st has been the day to celebrate freedom for all, every year!
Other Ways to Celebrate Freedom:
- Breathe the air knowing you are living in a secure country where you are able to make your own decisions without retribution.
- Being able to pick your own preferences without reprisal.
- Playing the music that you prefer, or perform without punishment.
- Being able to pick your own food/cooking without fear of going to a jail.
- Play the read (or write) a book of your own choosing.
- Being able to choose your way of life–the where, the how, the way, etc.–without being told the parameters of your living arrangement.
- Being able to choose your own career path, including college! Without being told how you will work.
- Thank God you live in such a free country, the freest in the world!
