Today’s Featured Flower Photo of the Day: Sugar Tyme Crabapple

Here is today’s featured photo flower presentation. To let this year shine bright, I am featuring fine photos of flowers, continuing to honor the brighter side of life again this year. Today’s Flower of the day is the Sugar Tyme Crabapple.

The Sugar Tyme Crabapple or the Malus spp. ‘Sutyzam’ is a great disease-resistant crabapple that has crisp, dark green foliage that makes the pale pink buds pop. The buds open to white flowers and precede rich red 1/2″ diameter fruits that remain on the tree all year. The Sugar Tyme Crabapple is a nice upright, spreading variety, that grows to the size of 14 to 18 feet tall, and 12 to 15 feet wide–yielding small, bright red apples, about 1/2 of an inch in diameter, and appearing in the fall and providing ornamental interest on the tree throughout the winter. In the fall, the leaves turn a golden yellow that strikes the natural contrast with the fruit.The Sugar Tyme Crabapple loves the full sunlight, and generally normal soil conditions to sandy and/or clay conditioning.
