Today’s Featured Flower Photo of the Day: Eastern Redbud
Here is today’s featured photo flower presentation. To let this year shine bright, I am featuring fine photos of flowers, continuing to honor the brighter side of life again this year. Today’s Flower of the day is the Eastern Redbud.
The Eastern Redbud, or the Cercis in the Fabaceae family, is a large deciduous shrub or small tree, native to eastern North America from southern Michigan south to central Mexico, east to New Jersey. Species thrive as far west as California and as far north as southern Ontario. The flowers bloom early to mid spring, near or after the date of the typical suggested planting season for seed and last days of frost in the spring. The Eastern Redbud grows to the size of a height of 20–30′ and a spread of 25–35′ at maturity. The tree’s life span is between 50 to 70 years of age. Native American tribes that used eastern redbud for various purposes. The bark was made into a tea to treat whooping cough. Taking cold infusions of the roots and inner bark treated fevers and congestion. Eastern redbud grows in full sun to part shade. Eastern redbud can be grown in full sun to partial shade, although the best flowering will be in full sun. Although it is tolerant of clay soil it does best in moist, well-drained deep soil.

Beautiful photos! I like #4 the best. Not deep focus (which I think would detract from the beauty of it.)
Never heard of this before. Very pretty.
