Today’s featured photo of the day! The feature is: Architecture – Vintage Architecture

Here is today’s featured photo. To let the spring months shine, I am featuring fine photos of great architecture. Part 2 features the beauty of Vintage Architecture, so we can continue to honor the brighter side of life this year. Although this building is not on the bright side if you are not visiting, here is a very nice vintage photo of Stateville Prison back in 1982! Never a nice place to reside, the prison located officially in Crest Hill is synonymous with Joliet. The prison until it closed in 2016 after 144 years of service by the Illinois Department of Corrections, but a part is still open as a gateway into the prison system in Illinois. The prison is sometimes mistaken as the place where the 1980 movie “The Blues Brothers” was filmed, when in fact it was out of the Joliet Prison. Close-by and looks like Stateville, but it is on another side of town. They really don’t make movies like these nowadays! The great John Landis movie shows the character “Joliet” Jake Blues played by the famous late John Belushi, who for years was a veteran actor of the long running show “Saturday Night Live“. I know that I would not choose to take photos these days, but when I was young, I certainly did photo shoots that were definitely out of the ordinary. How scary!!

Photo taken with a tripod mounted Nikon EM-through a Nikon 26 mm lens, filter=NONE, Aperture=5.6 f/stop, shutter-speed 4 seconds, loaded with Kodak Plus-X Black & White 135 Negative Film ISO (ASA) 125 (fine grain) processed with D-76 Processing Chemicals, and a fiber paper print using the Kodak Professional “warm-tone” enlargement paper developed with Kodak Dektol chemicals onto a 3½x5″ matte-gloss print. Date – July – 1982.
